Watch The Road
I was driving behind a city bus and it had one of those Watch the Road ads on it. It said, “Stop at the red or end up dead.” To illustrate this, there was a tombstone with the inscription, “I wish I had stopped.” There are only two scenarios where this can make any sense.
SCENARIO ONE
The imaginary dead guy is at dinner with his family and says:
“Great meatloaf Mom. By the way, when I die can you inscribe ‘I wish I had stopped’ on my tombstone?”
“Why?”
“Well I’m going to run a red light and die.”
“Oh… why don’t you stop when you see it?”
“Or I can do that. Thank you, I didn’t even think of that.”
He then forgets to do this and his mom respects his wishes.
SCENARIO TWO
The imaginary dead guy dies in a horrible car accident where he ran a red light and his family decides to put “I wish I had stopped” on his tombstone. You know, as a goof.
Either way, I almost got in an accident while thinking about all this rather than watching the road.
