JUCY LUCY

When I was in Minneapolis visiting my brother and his family over Thanksgiving, they took me out to this place called Matt’s Tavern. They’re famous for serving a thing called the “Jucy Lucy”, which is a cheeseburger with the cheese inside the burger. Sounds delicious, right? No. No it is not. Yes It sounds delicious, but in reality it is a gastronomical mutation.

So when they place the burger in front of you, you can’t eat it because the cheese inside is way too hot. Well how do you know when it will be ready? It’s ready as soon as the outside part of the burger is really cold. And let me tell you, there’s nothing like biting into a hunk of cold charred meat and releasing a river of almost-scalding cheese into your mouth. It was the culinary equivalent of popping a zit.

Plus it’s called a “Jucy Lucy.” Leave it to Minneapolis to make a cheeseburger sound like a dirty sex act.
